Have you already tried this great side dish? Kids love it! Few mom told me about new requests from their kids, from now on they want potatoe fries prepared this way. :) They are crunchy outside, soft, butterish inside! Yummy! Sure, I prepared a quick video tutorial as well. Guess who had choosen the music!?
*Note:
The taste is completely different then the Classical French Fries, not even like baked in the oven, so one shouldn't expect a taste like that. This is something different and something good as well!
Ingredients:
Potatoes (for baking)
oil for frying
salt to taste
spice to taste: You can use powdered garlic, paprika, parsley... anything you like with potatoes.
This time, as you can see, I cut the potatoes as Classic French Fries, because this shape matched the leftover from our previous lunch. Otherwise, you can choose any shape you want, either sticks like this or even cubes!
The best is to use red potatoes, the ones you bake usually. Although we cook these first, for what I would use potato for cooking, in this method of preparation it is the best to use the one for baking.
Wash the potatoes, peel them and put them to boil without cutting them if you want the French Frie look, or cut them in bigger chuncks.
Cook the potato for about 15 minutes. They should be tender enough to pierce them thrue with a fork and firm enough to take them out of water without falling apart.
As soon as you take them out from the pot they will dry, so don't worry about the oil sprinkling everywhere once you put them in saucepan for frying.
Before handling them waith a little bit for the potatoes to cool. They will be really hot and cause burn.
Once cooled, cut them in sticks.
Heat the oil and put the sticks in the saucepan.
Fry them until they become golden outside.
If you cooked them for shorter time, then they will need additional frying time.
Serve them as side dish or enjoy them as you would French Fries.
